MUSIC | FGR: Marsha Ambrosius Pays Tribute To Teena Marie

On December 26th, CBS NEWS announced that R&B sensation Teena Marie passed away. Marie was definitely a female gone rogue. Started off as the protegee of Rick James and later became a household name making hits that included "Cassanova Brown" ''Portuguese Love" and "Deja Vu (I've Been Here Before)" and much more.

Tuesday, Marsha Ambrosius paid tribute to Marie at the North London’s Dingwalls.

Ambrosius says:

“She used to do ‘Say Yes’ in her set, and that’s how we got talking…” Ambrosius revealed, playing her version of the song to the crowd through a laptop. “Back when I thought I was recording a solo album I was like, ‘I love ‘Portuguese Love’ and I love ‘Yes Indeed’ and I would love to cover it,’ and she gave me the ‘Okay girl!’”

“Then she heard it and she gave me approval. That means a lot to me; for a singer to respect you is like a whole other thing… To have the respect of someone like that is like, I’m doing the right thing with my life…”

The past week, I went on one of the best trips of my life! What was that trip? That would be a collegiate challenge with my school's Habitat for Humanity organization. We went to Questa/Taos, New Mexico, which was about 7500 ft in elevation... a huge difference from almost my normal sea level... running was difficult.

UCSD H4H! Yup yup, girlies out numbered the boys. ;P

All of them are fantastic people.

POLITICS | PETITION : Rape Against Lesbian African Women

In South Africa there is a common practice called "corrective rape" where men rape and batter lesbian women back to heterosexuality. Many are assaulted, mutilated, and sometimes even murdered. Other victims resort to suicide to liberate themselves.

Here are some frightening facts:

• 31 lesbian women have been murdered because of their sexuality
• More than 10 lesbians a week are raped or gang raped in Cape Town alone
• 150 women are raped every day in South Africa
• For every 25 men accused of rape in South Africa, 24 walk free

Please help stop this act by signing this petition to show the people of South Africa that "corrective rape" is indeed a hate crime against humanity. Help make every part of this world a better and safer place for all women and men.

JOURNΔL | THE ΔCTRESS: Makeup Final

Alright so here it is! We have spent weeks and weeks working on our prosthetic pieces. Our final was to create two pieces and apply it onto the face. Of course, the process was very long so it all takes awhile.

First, we had to cast our faces. If you've ever had braces, the process of putting the mold stuff into your mouth to make a copy of your teeth so they can create a retainer for you, this is pretty much the same thing. Except with plaster and alginate.

Next we get non-drying clay to mold the prosthetic pieces into the shapes we want on our casted heads. I didn't get a picture of it.. but I hope you have a mental image going on!

I cast the clay molds again to make these two pieces and pour in Liquid Latex.

After I take them out, it looks like this:
