VIDEO GΔMES: Call of Duty

Call of Duty. Who hasn't heard of it? Even if you don't play it, you surely MUST have heard of it right? Well, the one that I have is Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (I plan to get the other ones though :)) So this one is about several different situations. You play as people from two different teams. One team is the Army Rangers, and the other is Task Force 141. In some missions, you play as a guy named "Joseph Allen", different ones youre "Gary 'Roach' Sanderson", others you play as "James Ramirez", and still others you are "Soap MacTavish". Roach, Soap, Price, and another teammate, "Ghost", are all part of Task Force 141. James Ramirez and Joseph Allen are part of the Army Rangers. In the beginning you try to kill a Russian man who goes by the name of Makarov. That was the role of Joseph Allen. You joined Makarov's group, going undercover. Unfortunately, he knows you are undercover, and kills you at the end of the mission. Anyway, later in the game, you find out that General Shepherd, someone that was supposed to be on your team, is a bad guy, and killed two of my favorite characters, "Ghost" and "Roach", who are good guys. The roles of Ghost and Roach were to work for Shepherd, along with Soap, Price, and  the rest of the team. But after you find out that he is bad, you end up setting out to kill him. He almost kills you and your partner, "Captain Price" (in this mission, you play as "Soap"). Shepherd beats you and stabs you, but Price comes along and gets into a fight with him. At the last minute, though, you pull the knife that Shepherd stabbed you with, and threw it at his face, killing him.  This is the end of the game, and where both you and Price get rescued by a helicopter piloted by a Russian friend and others on your team. James Ramirez's missions are different. Although you still work for Shepherd in the beginning and middle of the game, you follow Sergeant Foley in Washington D.C. (remember you are part of the Army Rangers when playing as Ramirez) near the end of it. You have to retake a building called Whiskey Hotel and the White House from the Russians, who all of the previously mentioned people are at war with.

As you may have guessed if you didnt already know, Call of Duty of a shooting game series. What i have been think about lately is why people seem to imagine guys playing games like this when they think about it. Even i automatically think of a GUY gamer when i think of shooting games like Call of Duty. And just now, my brother was reading what i wrote, and he said "Oh theres a girl gamer." And i thought to myself, "Why should people have to be informed about girl gamers?" There are plenty out there, including myself. But apparently, more guys play games like COD. I mean, i LOVE video games, and im sure alot of other girls do too. But in things like TV shows and movies, when talking about video games, they usually show little boys playing, while girls go brush their hair or something. Call of Duty is full of shooting and violence, and that just doesnt seem to fit a girl's personality. That is one of the things i plan to prove wrong about girl stereotypes. I am not girly, and i am often called a man by my own brother. Im not saying that i dont like being girl, but simply that girls do things that boys are usually seen doing, like video games and sports. I dont know if i would be called a "gamer" by other people, but I think i am. And there are so many other girl gamers like me who can be just as good if not better than other boys. So when thinking of violent shooting games, reflect on this post and acknowledge the fact there are girls who love video games like me. Lets all acknowledge the POWER OF FEMALE GAMERS!! Sorry, that was really corny, it was my brother's idea! X)
