EVENT: Comic-Con 2010 - Day One

Hi, I'm Rose!

Last Wednesday night was the kick-off to Comic-Con 2010! Now, if you may or may not know, Comic-Con is one of the biggest conventions in the world, held in beautiful San Diego.
It's attendees include, but are not limited to, comic book geeks*, sci-fi buffs, video game addicts, multidimensional artists, celebrities and those with a lust for life experiences.

There's a HUGE exhibit hall where there are starting artists ranging to big corporations (FOX, Warner Bros., etc.).

Then there's also the rooms for panels where TV stars, movie stars, writers, etc., come to show clips and have Q&A sessions. This being my first year, I thought, "Hey, I'll have a neat schedule before I get there and see EVERYTHING." Wrong wrong wrong! There were so many people there, thousands upon THOUSANDS, so it was difficult to get into specific halls to see what you want to see; lines are like Disneyland and finding a seat is like musical chairs with 1000 other people.

Day 1 - Thursday: When I drove up, there were already tons of people lining the streets with giant re-usable bags with the infamous Comic-Con logo on it and from that... I knew chaos would ensue. Walking into the Exhibit hall that spanned the entire bottom floor of the Convention Center was a sensory overload; meant in the best way possible. There were sooo many costumes! Yes, people make fun of them but honestly, if you looked at them and saw the time and effort that goes into each (homemade) costume, you would not make fun of them, no matter how ridiculous.
(yes, his mask did move up and down at the push of a button!)

If you're thinking, "what about those girls that DON'T have the bodies to be wearing those clothes?" Well, at least they have the confidence to do it.
That day, I only saw the big corporate booths, like Avatar, Transformers, Harry Potter, etc. in the exhibit hall.

Then I proceeded to go to the Showtime Antihero panel and Dexter panel (where I got to see the ever so dreamy Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter and James Remar!!!).

It was so cool to get the inside scoop before it was released to the media, and to see the interactions these intangible people have with us normal people.
Weeds.
Californication.

Lesson of the day: Comic-Con is a cut-throat place.

Don't be afraid to go out there and experience life, even if it's not your style or if you have to go by yourself! Eff expectations, do what you want!
