ROGUE NEWS | URGENT: San Bruno Fire

By: Jessica

In San Bruno this evening, a broken gas main caused a great fire affecting many neighboring homes. The fire which is still burning as I am writing this, reached 1,200 degrees. Many homes have been destroyed, many people burned, and one reported person announced deceased.

In times of disaster, it is up to all neighbors no matter how far and wide to lend out a helping hand. Many organizations have prepared themselves in case of emergencies. The American Red Cross has provided shelter and many other necessities in order to rescue all those affected and lost their homes.

How can you help?
The Blood Center of the Pacific has issued an emergency alert asking people to donate blood Friday to help burned victims. Here is a list of organizations that are taking blood donations now:

If you know of any victims, there are places open for shelter as well:

Alpine Inn & Suites in Daly City is offering free rooms - 415-334-6969
San Bruno Rec. Center 251 City Park Way - 650-616-7180
Petco in San Bruno *for pets only - 650-589-3757

Donations are also always welcome to American Red cross to help alleviate the great loss of the fire victims. But whether it is donating blood or money, saying a prayer, spreading the news, or even sending condolences to those effected, at times like these anything is worth doing than being ignorant of what is happening around you.

"I am a huge believer in giving back and helping out in the community and the world. Think globally, act locally I suppose. I believe that the measure of a person's life is the affect they have on others." - Steve Nash
