ΔTTENTION: Obama Declares Combat In Iraq Over

by rosebuhd

At approximately 5 PM PST on August 31, 2010, President Barack Obama declared that there will no longer be combat in Iraq after President George W. Bush declared it in 2003!

This means that American combat troops will be withdrawn from, and the power will be given back to Iraq's own leaders. However, he did say that the U.S. will continue to be a part of Iraq's mission to a better future.
With this, Obama will be directing the resources to the war ongoing in Afghanistan (which is in its 10th year) in hopes of also ending combat there July 2011.

Watch his speech with an interactive transcript here:
I really admire President Obama for this because this was one of his campaign promises in 2008. It took him some time, and caught some off guard when he sent in more troops, but he came through with his promise.
PS. How cool is he? Haha.
