ΔTTENTION: Prop 8 Overturned

Proposition 8, banning gay marriage in California, has been overturned!

U.S. District Court Judge Vaughn Walker ruled the proposition UNCONSTITUTIONAL. "Proposition 8 fails to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license... Indeed, the evidence shows Proposition 8 does nothing more than enshrine in the California Constitution the notion that opposite-sex couples are superior
to same-sex couples."

Federal Judge Walker single-handedly over ruled the 52% majority decision made in November 2008. This case is expected to reach the U.S. Supreme Court.

Words cannot describe how happy I was to receive this news update on my blackberry. This is a huge step towards equality in California and fighting for what is right and truly just in the world.

All of this would have never happened if it weren't for the people who stood up for what they believed in. We are a democracy. A government of the people. Even though each of us may be just one person, we all can make a difference.

In each and every one of us, there is a hidden power. Our voice. Let your voices be heard. Just like the millions of voices screaming out for equality in marriage. The tables are turning. We must stay active.

  2. Actually, a bunch of people voted, but it didn't matter what they had voted. ONE person - a judge in particular - decided to overturn the prop and that was that.
