This young lady was introduced to us in 2008 as a protege of Missy Elliot. Sullivan was born and raised in Philidelphia, Pennsylvania. Sullivan got much recognizition after singing at the Showtime At The Apollo as well as singing at Stevie Wonders' grandson birthday party. At the age of 16, Sullivan was signed to Jive Records. An album titled 'Break My Little Heart' was recorded yet never released. She was then dropped from the label. She kept in good contact with artist Missy Elliot and later was signed to J Records.
In 2008, Sullivans' debut album 'Fearless' was released. Her hit "Need U Bad" hit radiowaves with a bang! The track featured artist Missy Elliot and Pepa from Salt-n-Pepa. The amazing part about this album was the Sullivan wrote every track on it. The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard's Top R&B/Hip Hop Chart, #31 on Billboard's Hot 100 and #6 on Billboard 200.Sullivans' sophomore album 'Love Me Back' is set to be released October 5th of this year. Producers that plan on working on this album are Ne-Yo, Los da Mystro, Ryan Leslie, Lamb, and Missy Elliott.One of the tracks on the album is titled "Vanity Six" which is a tribute to Prince.
Here is a video of Sullivans' single "Holding You Down (Goin' In Circles)". It definitely has a late 1980s vibe to it. The clothes, the music, the style of dancing, etc. And keep a good look out. It has appearances from Missy Elliot, Pete Rock, Pepa, Dougie Fresh, and Kwame.
