ΔBOUT: Kinsey Scale

In 1948, Alfred Kinsey developed this scale created through his research on sexuality throughout the United States. His world renowned research was the first to truly respond to the questions on everyone's mind that no one dared ask. This scale shows that there is no clear-cut answer to someone's sexuality. It goes beyond just gay, lesbian, and bi.

0- Exclusively heterosexual with no homosexual
1- Predominantly heterosexual, only incidentally homosexual
2- Predominantly heterosexual, but more than incidentally homosexual
3- Equally heterosexual and homosexual
4- Predominantly homosexual, but more than incidentally heterosexual
5- Predominantly homosexual, only incidentally heterosexual
6- Exclusively homosexual

A few key things to note when you determine your "number". It can be subject to CHANGE. You may be a 1 or 2 now, but later in life you may find yourself at a 4 or 5. This is perfectly normal.

Reasons why I love and respect this scale is because sexuality isn't just about the term you identify with. And when you label yourself, it does not mean that you cannot go back or claim to be a different sexual being. YOU are the one to determine your own sexuality and it is for your own knowledge, not for the benefit of others' interests.

So what is your number? Learn more at [kinseyinstitute.org]
